Fried Oysters

1 c Milk
24 Oysters, freshly shucked
Salt
Pepper
Cornmeal
Cracker crumbs
Vegetable shortening

Pour milk over oysters; soak 10 minutes.

Roll oysters in seasoned cornmeal or cracker crumbs.

Heat shortening; fry oysters quickly in very hot shortening until brown.

Drain well on paper towels before serving.
